Melanated 82 are a company dedicated to creating skincare specifically for skin of colour so one of the most important stages when creating this brand was defining the messaging and highlighting their mission. We did a lot of market research prior to the designing stage as we wanted to ensure our product would communicate its modern values and stand out in this fairly unexplored area in the industry. While experimenting with colour we steered away from the pastel palette which has proved popular in the past year with new and existing skincare companies and decided on a clean and timeless nude palette.
In the logo design stage we took inspiration from couture brands and enjoyed more monochrome, simplistic designs so we came to the decision to create a wordmark logo. We married the minimalist logo with dramatic imagery to create really powerful visuals on all platforms focusing particularly on social media and new ecommerce platform we’re creating (keep an eye out!).
